Inanition explores the concepts of isolation and compartmentalisation. It is an absurdist experimental animation, following the emotionally and physically deprived protagonists on their search for meaning and connection.
The minimalist aesthetic depicts the isolation of the characters in the space around them. I used two characters because I wanted to create the atmosphere of disconnection between them – they co-exist but do not interact.
The animation plays on the ideas of cycles and compartmentalisation – these characters are trapped by their environment and their own behaviour – which is why the animation is cyclical and inspired by the ‘Matryoshka effect’ of Russian Dolls.
