Richard the Cockerel is a series of short animations that use humour to bring to light the growing issue of men’s mental health.

The aim of this project is to work towards bridging the gap between the existing mental health campaigns and the animations within popular culture that appeal to our demographic. The series of shorts each tackle a stereotype or common phrase linked to mens mental health with the aim to encourage men to recognise their symptoms and open a dialogue about how they feel.

This is shown within the underlying message telling men, “Don’t be a ‘Cock’, talk about your feelings!” with the character Richard the Cockerel acting as a humorous indication to that message.
