Caitlin Chescoe is a third year BA Photography student and created these images as part of a series titled “The Somerset Levels”
The adverse weather conditions that hit the UK at the start of 2014 affected hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses across the country. The Somerset Levels was one of the worst hit areas and in some cases the flooding lasted months, yet the clean up process continues over half a year on.
Is this catastrophic flooding due to climate change or poor planning policy?
Have the Environment Agency and Government been doing enough to protect innocent people from this ever happening again?
I record the opinions of the victims of this disaster and the amazing generosity of the people who are continuing to volunteer to return these small villages to some form of normality.
